We are happy to announce that Intel® Extreme Masters is joining in on this year's WCS circuit, once again returning to Shanghai, China, to host a 16-player tournament in StarCraft® II on July 27-30. The players will compete for their share of a $25,000 prize pool, WCS points, and the title of IEM Shanghai 2017 champion on the showfloor of ChinaJoy, China's largest gaming and digital entertainment exhibition.
Four players have received and accepted direct invitations to the event:
Invitations were based on WCS Korea 2017 points, which started accumulating after the WCS 2016 Global Finals.
The 16-player tournament at IEM Shanghai 2017 will begin with a double-elimination best-of-three group stage, consisting of four groups. From there, the quarterfinals and semifinals will be best-of-five, leading up to a best-of-seven grand finals.
